Day 7 Thursday

We started the day by taking the students to the border to see the new border fence that is being put up. Pastor Ricky, Pastor George, and myself went into Mexico to get everyone some Joya’s, which is a Mexican soft drink. We had a tough time finding glass bottles so the students could have a souvenir, but eventually we did. After waiting and hour and a half to get back into the U.S. we went to the church for VBS and was able to hang there for some good food afterward. We got back to the retreat later than usual and then had spontaineous baptism in the pool which was awesome seeing 6 people baptized. Then we went to worship with some extended worship tonight which is always fun for the worship leader. Tonight’s worship songs were:

Salvation is Here-Hillsong
All Because of Jesus-Fee
God of This City-Tomlin Version
How Great is our God-Tomlin
Great God-Daniel Doss Band (this was the mission trip favorite, they could not stop singing it)

Thanks

Day 6 Wednesday

Well Hump day is here and man was it awesome. It started with a bang by finishing up some school work that I had to get done. After finishing all that work I then let all the students paint and tattoo my face for VBS. We got back to the camp and started getting ready for worship, and man did God show up and show out. Wow Pastor George Wright of Cedar Crest brought it and the Spirit was unleashed. A young lady gave her life to Christ and many other students got right. I love when God shows up it never gets old. Tomorrow should be awesome I’m going to Mexico. Worship tonight was:

Everlasting God-Brenton Brown
Enough-Tomlin
You Are My King (Amazing Love)-Billy Foote

Day 5 Tuesday

The day began with some good breakfast to fill my tummy. We then headed to a small church that is serving as our hub for our work sites. I got put in charge of being the camera man so I manned the camera for the morning session. Then I took a glorious trip to Wal-mart to get some things for the Vacation Bible School we are running. It is truly a pleasure to see other youth interacting with these little kids with virtually no hope in the future. It’s so awesome that I have gotten the chance to meet new people and become friend with them. The worship was good at night the kids are really liking Great God so I played it again tonight the set list was:

Great God-Daniel Doss Band
Mighty to Save-Hillsong
Heart of Worship-Matt Redman

It was a great day can’t wait until tomorrow!

Day 3 Sunday

We got in late Saturday and headed an hour west to San Isidro Baptist Church for a service outdoors in 96 degree weather which was interesting because it didn’t feel that hot with the nice breeze coming through. I got a chance to talk with their worship leader and hear about how she started leading worship(to read her story click here). One of the adult leaders and myself then went to the airport to pick another student who was flying in because he just got back from Guatemala. Following that we went and ate and ate and ate at Ponchos which is authentic Mexican food which was off the hook we also got a chance to listen to a cool Mariachi band. We ended the night with some worship and talking about the week of work ahead. The students were really engaged during worship which is always awesome. We sang:

Salvation is Here-Hillsong
Glory to God Forever-Fee
God of this City-Tomlin Version

Can’t wait to see what the rest of the week holds

Mission Trip Day 1 and 2

Many of you know if you read my last post that I'm in Texas on a mission trip with a group of middle and highschoolers from Cedar Crest Church in Acworth. We left Friday around 5:30 from Allatoona High School and drove to Biloxi to spend the night. We woke up Saturday and drove all day to Mission, Texas which is about 5 minutes from the Mexico-U.S. border. So far everything is going great and we are getting settled in. Thank you so much for your prayers and look for day 3 to come later today.
